Here are the services and other events coming up in Little Gaddesden Parish Church in the next few days.
Midweek Holy Communion (Said Eucharist)
This midweek eucharist is a spoken service, based on a modernised Book of Common Prayer, generally held on Thursdays at 10:00am. It lasts for a little under half an hour.
Parish Communion – a Sung Eucharist with Sunday School
Our most frequent Sunday morning service follows the traditional Anglican Communion, or Eucharistic, service. We have traditional hymns and the Gloria and Responses sung to the Patrick Appleford setting of the Mass in E. The service lasts for almost an hour. Sunday School for children is held in the adjoining vestry during the service, with the children joining in at the communion.
Refreshments are served afterwards.
Sung Evensong (Book of Common Prayer)
Our usual Sunday Evensong follows the traditional Book of Common Prayer service. It includes a sung Magnificat, Nunc Dimittis and Psalm as well as sung Responses and traditional hymns. This service is often conducted by one of the Readers.
About four times in the year there is an alternative form of Evensong, often following the Ionia pattern. These are advertised separately.
Philip Edmonds from British Humanitarian Aid (BHA) will be collecting donations at the church on the morning of Tuesday 24th September. He is likely to arrive around 9.00 am and leave soon after 10.00 am. BHA will only want the limited range of items as per the last collection i.e. clothes, shoes, linen and toiletries.
Please label your bags/boxes explaining what is enclosed – that will be very helpful to Philip.
If anyone has items for collection but cannot be there on the day it should be possible for items to be left in Church by the font on the Monday.
BHA is one of Little Gaddesden Church’s primary Outward Giving charities.
