The kitchen units were delivered and are now being installed. This should take about five days as there are a lot of units to get in as well as the appliances to fit and sinks to plumb in. We are installing a commercial dishwasher in order to make clearing up after events very efficient. We looked at several other kitchens before designing ours and we were strongly advised that this was the best type of dishwasher to put in, despite the extra initial cost, so we hope it will prove to wash up to its reputation!

The walls have been plastered and dried out and the undercoats of paint are being rolled on. The electricians are wiring up the light fittings and outlets. And last weekend a team of tilers worked non-stop to lay the slate on the floor of the Ambulatory, lobby, kitchen and WC.

The glazing to the Ambulatory has been beautifully detailed. The front door frame is behind the glass so that it is almost invisible. Our architect gave a lot of time and thought to achieve this detail and it is exquisitely minimal. The glass canopy is held elegantly over the door by a couple of stainless steel rods and follows the slope of the roof.

This week there was progress inside. The walls and roof of the Hall internally were lined out in plasterboard fixed onto battens on the 75 mm of insulation which will keep the spaces warm. Next week the plaster skim will be applied and the inside will look almost finished.
