Christian Aid Week, 12th – 18th May

Christian Aid is celebrating its 80th anniversary. The charity’s groundbreaking work began in 1945, when it was founded by British and Irish churches to help refugees following the Second World War. For 80 years, it has provided humanitarian relief and long-term development support for poor communities worldwide, while highlighting suffering, tackling injustice and championing people’s rights.

This year’s Christian Aid Week appeal is focused on Guatemala, where families are working hard to beat poverty and hunger in the face of the climate crisis which is causing the seasons to intensify and shift erratically.

We will be raising funds for Christian Aid Week through:

  • an online envelope, replacing the house to house collections that used to take place in the village every year. Please use the following link if you would like to make a donation:

https://fundraise.christianaid.org.uk/envelope-2025/little-gaddesden-church-christian-aid-week-2025?utm_medium=sharedbuttons&utm_campaign=&utm_source=copy

  • collections in church on Sunday 11th and Sunday 18th May
  • our Strawberry Cream Tea on Saturday 31st May at 3pm in the Thomas Field Hall.

In addition, Christian Aid has a 70k in May fundraising challenge. It’s simple: travel 70 kilometres, in whatever way you want, throughout the month of May to raise funds for Christian Aid. You can invite friends and family to sponsor you or even complete the challenge with you. Details are on the Christian Aid website www.christianaid.org.uk. Annabelle Grassini will be doing the challenge, running and walking for Christian Aid throughout the month. If you would like to sponsor her, please go to: https://fundraise.christianaid.org.uk/challenge-2025/Annabelle-70k-in-May?utm_medium=sharedbuttons&utm_campaign=&utm_source=copy.
