Notices

Coronavirus

We have resumed congregational worship for our three parishes and will gradually introduce more services in each of the churches over the coming weeks as conditions allow.

Restrictions of which you will be familiar from before Christmas remain:

  1. Social distancing from those not in your household or care bubble, must be maintained.
  2. Face masks must be worn at all times in church.
  3. Please use the hand cleanser at the door.
  4. We will not be able to join in with the singing of the hymns.
  5. Holy Communion will be distributed in a safe manner in one kind only.
  6. After the service you must disperse and not stay in church to have a catch up.

Christian Aid

This year’s Christian Aid week is 10th-16th May. This year’s project is Helping to fight the Climate Crisis. Please donate online if you can on their website www.christianaid.org.uk (opens in new tab).

APCM

The APCM for Nettleden church is on Thursday 7th May 2021 at 7.00pm in church.

Café Zoom

Tuesday morning’s Coffee and Cake sessions are now online. We are getting together virtually by Zoom on Tuesdays from 10:30am to 11:15am. Contact Hilary Catchpole at h.catchpole@btinternet.com, preferably a day or so beforehand, to ask for joining details for this week’s Café Zoom. You’ll need to make your own coffee…and bring your own cake!

Midweek Discussion Group on Zoom

The Midweek Discussion Group meeting via Zoom on Wednesday evenings are now under way.

The sessions start with a general welcome chat to hear how everyone is getting on, then some discussion often centred around a Bible passage, with a short time of prayer at the end.  Everyone will be considered to be fully present if they have signed in, but there is no need to say or share anything.  You can spend the whole time ‘mute’ if you wish!

There are the usual protocols about confidentiality, as anything shared must be respected as being confidential to the group. All are welcome, but if inviting others please contact Anthony first.

The next ‘meetings’ are as follows:

  • 28 April              Malachi: Introduction to Old Testament Prophecy
  • 5 May                  Evening Prayer
  • 12 May                Arius and the Council of Nicaea
  • 19 May                Evening Prayer
  • 26 May               Glossolalia: Spiritual Expression and Social Order*
  • 2 June                  Evening Prayer

* An opportunity at Pentecost to look at the some teaching of Paul on spiritual gifts in 1 Corinthians (resources from Yale Divinity School).  If we like it, we could consider spending  more time on 1 Corinthians.  The YDS material is superb.

Do keep the ideas coming about topics that you would like to consider.

Sign-in is at 19.55 hrs and the sessions end at 9.30pm sharp.  The Zoom invitation is sent a few days beforehand, usually with some background material.

Please contact Anthony Archer on anthony.archer@bridgewaterassociates.co.uk or 07721 504125 with any questions
