Thomas Field Hall: Finishing the Walls

The internal blockwork was finished at the beginning of the week and now the flints are being laid in the panels of the external walls between the brick quoins, or corners.

Ready for the flints…

Although we are re-using the existing flints, the panels are bigger and we need some extra. There was a problem in finding flints to match the existing ones. These must have been locally sourced Hertfordshire flints, but they are no longer available. However, our architect was lucky and found some stored in a builder’s yard which are a good match and they can be mixed in with the others.

The concrete floor to the Ambulatory has been laid and samples of the steelwork supporting the glass roof are being finalised for approval.
